“When Author Craven Smith II visited our school, every student received their own copy of A Words Hurt Too! Book— and the excitement was unforgettable. Students lined up to take pictures, share their stories, and talk about how they could ‘be kind to others.’ You could see the pride and reflection on their faces as they held their books. Craven’s message turned our gym into a place of learning, healing, and hope. This isn’t just a reading — it’s a moment our students will carry with them for life."

“When Author Craven Smith II brought Words Hurt Too! to our neighborhood through the Books & Barbers event, it changed everything. Kids left not just with new haircuts and backpacks, but with new confidence. Each child proudly held their own book and talked about how they could stand up for kindness. Watching them smile and connect with Craven’s message reminded me that real change starts right here in our community.”

“When Author Craven Smith II approached me about filming a community video based on his book Words Hurt Too!, I immediately saw the heart behind his vision. We opened our doors to him, a local artist, and several neighborhood youth — and what unfolded was something beautiful. The message of kindness and accountability came to life through music and storytelling. It was a blessing to see young people using their voices to spread positivity and hope right here in our community.”

Craven Smith II, creator of the “WORDS HURT TOO!” book series, turned his own childhood pain into a mission for change. Growing up, Craven was bullied—and eventually became a bully himself. That turning point forced him to reflect, grow, and commit to breaking the cycle.
Through his books, Craven helps kids, parents, and educators understand both sides of bullying and discover the power of kindness. His background in community service includes launching the Live 2 Love Project in Cleveland, Ohio, where he hosted free haircut drives, fashion shows, and youth workshops to uplift his community.
Today, Craven speaks at schools, connects with families, and continues to spread his message through books, events, and workshops. For him, every book, every talk, and every event is a step toward what he believes is possible: a kinder world where words heal instead of hurt.
